Chapter 1

Kylie opened her eyes; she was in a beautiful field of wildflowers.
Automatically, she reached out for one. Her hand passed through the
lovely daises. This was whenever she knew she was in a dream.
Her dreams always seemed very real, until she woke up. That was why,
about a week ago, she had started a ‘Dream Journal’ she kept track of
her dreams with pictures and sentences describing them in great detail
as soon as she woke up.
She willed herself to be able to pick a flower and it worked. A long
time ago, she had realized that in order to be in control of the
dreams, you had to will yourself to do so. Kylie Pane was a very
special type of person; only two more people like her existed, and
those children could also control their dreams. Somehow the three had
never met, maybe that had to do with the fact that Kylie lived in
America, while the other two were also in different countries.

Austin sighed. He had just received yet another D- on a test. His
dreams were becoming harder to deal with, running through wildflowers
every night. Finding no meaning in these dreams, even whenever he
controlled them. Sick of being tired all the time, he had tried to
sleep on the one-hour bus going to his school, but even the extra hour
did not help at all. No matter what, he was always in that field, maybe
he was supposed to meet someone? No, the only people who were ever in
his dreams were people he knew or saw on television.
He ran his hands through his auburn hair that reached down to his
forehead. Austin had no idea there were people just like him. Who ended
up in the field of wildflowers? Who did he not know? A million
questions ran through his mind as he boarded the bus to go back to his
small, poor excuse for a house in southern Great Britain.

Gabbrielle tossed the tennis ball back to her dog in the hot Australian
sun. Her boyfriend Meeko showed up to watch a movie five minutes later.
She found the movie surprisingly enjoyable. It at least took her mind
off of a really pestering fact. Something mind boggling was giving her
brain a real pain. She could not figure out why her dreams kept going
back to a field of wildflowers. She knew how to control her dreams, but
it just was not working lately.
“Gabby?”
“Yeah Meeko?”
“You seem worried, what’s on your mind”
“I’m sorry Meeko, I just can’t tell you.”
That, and Meeko was out.

Chapter 2

Kylie woke up quite refreshed but was disturbed when she found out it was
2:00 AM. She had seen a boy with auburn hair in her past dream, she
scribbled and drew in her journal shading in some parts and using
colored pencils on others. Her and the boy had chatted; he spoke with a
thick British accent, almost thicker than her southern one.

***

Austin woke with a start; he had just met his first American. She
had…what did they call it? A southern accent he guessed. She seemed
more so tired than he. Austin sprinted to his computer and checked out
a website that used the US’ Eastern Standard Time, no wonder, it was
2:00AM for her.
“Austin, honey, have you done your homework?”
“No, not yet mother.”
“Well get to it”
“But I am so tired, can’t I go back to napping?” he asked hoping to see the American again.
“You can after you finish up and we go to the supermarket”
That was not good, the supermarket was a two-hour round trip, and his
mother loved to spend time in town. He couldn’t blame her; it got them
out of the cramped little house.

***

I think he just broke up with me. I mean, I understand the fact
that he doesn’t want secrets in our relationship, but he wouldn’t
understand if I told him. Maybe Markus still likes me, if Meeko and I
are apart, Markus might come into my life.
Gabbrielle’s brain was tired already, it did not help that her boyfriend just broke up with her. She felt so lonely.
“I guess I’ll get used to it” she told herself.
“Honey, what’s wrong?”
“I told Meeko I couldn’t tell him what was on my mind because it’s one of my friends secrets” she lied
“Maybe a warm bath and a nap will help”
Gabbrielle went to take a bath, after that she fell soundly asleep, and she met a
girl there with a southern accent.
They chatted for a while about boyfriends, and how these dreams could
be a pain. Then Kylie, that was the girls’ name, said something about a
young Englishman named Austin. They both had a thing for liking
accents, but agreed, even if a British person was cute, there were 2
girls and 1 boy, so one of them would get jealous of the other if one
dream dated him. He showed up a few hours later. She introduced
herself, and their quest for friendship and fun began.

Chapter 3

At first they had a hard time understanding each other, for none
of them seemed to speak clearly, it was probably the accents. They all
walked, and walked, and walked, eventually Kylie spotted a small shack
she ran inside.
“What’s this language that this note is written in?” Gabby asked
“The note is in Spanish, I’m quite fluent” Kylie says
Kylie read the note, what it said was plain and simple to her, but the
others watched in awe as she quickly read the whole page in Spanish
then, even quicker, in English.
“The towers of darkness, the wrath of the rulers, I am not even
supposed to write this note, but go to Heblemton, that’s where I am
now, the town needs help, if I find out more, I will try to leave them
in the loose brick in the town square, the sun’s story is the story of
our safety, I am sorry that I moved, or if you want to know the truth,
I was kicked out of my home. Spanish is the only language I know, so
sorry if you can only read English, if so here you go:
Look in the loose brick in the town square of Heblemton” Kylie read
“I guess that means we have to go to the town” Austin said
“How do we know where it is?” Gabby asked
“I dunno Gabby, but the note has an arrow pointing that way” Kylie said pointing to the east
“Is that ‘the sun’s story?’”
“Probably, east to west, yeah, that’s the way the sun rises and sets”
“Let’s go!”
They ventured out into their version of the wild unknown until they
came to a sign that said “Heblemton 10 miles” Kylie suggested that they
just teleport, when the others asked how she willed herself to go to
Heblemton. Gabbrielle was the next to understand, poor Austin was the
last one to figure it out.
As they walked into the town of Heblemton, they found a loose brick
next to the prison Kylie jiggled it and read the note, this one was in
English.
“The castle is far away, at the top of the hill they say, I’m not a
good poet, and I know it, but this is the rhyming jail, and yes, I did
fail, at my only chance of escape, and how long will it take, to
uncover this nonsense and save the girl from Fulesense.”

“Fulesense? What’s that?”
“I’ve never heard of it!”
”Strange name isn’t it?”
Comments flew back and forth as they tried to find out where Fulesense
was, maybe it was just a name to rhyme with nonsense? Maybe it was a
small village nearby? Or maybe it was a city that the poet had been to?
They finally went to the local store and asked where the place named
Fulesense was, they got a huge reply that they weren’t prepared for:
“Well, yer want Fulesense? That der town’s been ‘bandoned for nearly
o’er a century! It’s kinda like yer normal e’eryday ghost town, but a
few folks still inhabit that God-forsaken place, the last one I’ve seen
was a lil’ gal not much taller dan a midget, but she had her a fancy
tiara and some nice dress on ‘n’ everydin, she came and asked where dat
der castle was, she said she was blind her name was…..er… I don’t
‘member but it was ‘long the lines of ‘Josie’ or ‘Jana’ or somedin like
dat.”
They thanked him for his time, they couldn’t figure it out, they were
in the right town, and they were obviously together to help this town,
but it seemed as happy a place as any. Or so they thought.

Chapter 4

Just when they figured they were in the wrong place, someone
popped their head out of the castle and played a loud note on the horn.
“OW! What in the world was that?!?” Austin exclaimed
Hey got his answer whenever out came a pale skinned person clothed in
the darkest purples, blues, and blacks that they had ever seen.
“Good night towns people. Curfew has come, but first I have a list of
updated laws. You are no longer allowed to ride your bike between
5am-9pm. You may not solicit to anyone who will not buy your product,
and finally, the taxes have changed, you will now pay five hundred
kenos extra as tax for everything you buy. Remember, I am only the
messenger for the Higher Powers. Good Night”
“Who was that?” Kylie murmured to her friends
The one person who heard her gasped and asked if they were new in town
“Why, actually we are”
“That is our ruler, he can be overly cruel sometimes, but only because
the Higher Powers tell him it will result in prosperity for our town”
“Higher Powers?”
“Why yes! The many, many gods from above, he was born into the family
of Acridies and Youhabod, they are the two most worshipped and powerful
gods there are.”
“What can they do?”
“Acridies gives us life, she can breath life into anything and she can
also give happiness, she passed those onto her son, while Youhabod is
the god of luck and weather.”
“Why isn’t the ruler nice and kind then?”
“Well, the legend has it that when Acridies was a little girl, the evil
god from below came and played with her and planted an evil seed in her
tummy, and when she and Youhabod were….. doing what you have to do to
have a child-”
Austin cut her off “We know how kids are made and born, and how they grow up”
“Oh!” the old lady exclaimed “Why, the house for people of your kind is down there, I hear business is great these days.”
“NO!” Kylie said “Where we come from they teach you when your young that way your parents wont have to explain”
The lady shook her head and told them that the evil seed planted in her
had transferred into her son, who just happened to be named “The Ruler”

Now what? They all wondered, they knew that they had to get to the castle, and that a young girl was there.
“None of this makes any sense! Maybe we weren’t supposed to find the
note? Maybe we’re supposed to go somewhere else and the person
misspelled the city’s name.” Austin said giving up.
“Possible” Kylie said as she thought this through “But if they did,
there probably would’ve been more errors than just that. Besides, so
far all of it fits together.”
“To me it sounds like a trap” Gabby said
“How so?” Austin said, maybe his hair should’ve been blonde
“Well, if we go, than for any reason they wanted us, they could capture us in the castle”
“This sounds like a name from home, we islander’s have wonderful big mansions and castle’s, and all of our castle’s are simple”
“You make it sound like your from a tropical island Austin!”
“Well… maybe a trip back to my modern day mansion castle would give us a new perspective”
“OK, I’ll just will myself to go where your house is”
“NO! I mean, why don’t you just will yourself to go where I went.”
“Sounds good enough” Kylie agreed, but she really didn’t go where he
did, because where he went wasn’t his home at all. It was The
Whitehouse, which he willed to be painted a shade of blue his mother
loved. Gabby knew it was the Whitehouse, and she just went where Kylie
was.
“So this is your mansion?” The girls asked staring at him, than at the
small shack that was practically made of firewood and cardboard.
“Yeah….. I’m sorry! I just want to fit that stereotype that I’m a rich Britt that has a cute accent!”
“Aww, the accent is cute, but you don’t have to be rich, you’ve got
looks on your side” Kylie said “But don’t you go to an expensive
private school? I’ve watched a limo pull up and you get out of it
before in dreams.”
“Yeah, my grandparents live in a beautiful mansion, up on a hill, it
used to be a factory owners house, and it’s fun to turn the slums that
the workers lived in into clubhouses and rooms for the gardeners and
things like that. They didn’t like that my mom married a poor man, and
they took pity on me, a half-breed. They didn’t even pity my mother
when my father died in an accident on my grandfathers hunting
property.” A tear rolled down his cheek.
“Aww, I’m so sorry, let’s just go back to the town”
